Banana Cue

A classic Filipino street food made with deep-fried caramelized bananas skewered on sticks.

Banana Cue

Ingredients

  • -8 ripe saba bananas (plantains)
  • -1 cup brown sugar
  • -2 cups cooking oil (for frying)
  • -Barbecue sticks (optional)

Instructions

  1. -Heat cooking oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
  2. -Add the bananas to the hot oil and fry for about 2-3 minutes.
  3. -Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over the frying bananas.
  4. -Continue frying while stirring gently to coat the bananas with the caramelized sugar.
  5. -Once the sugar fully coats the bananas and becomes sticky, remove them from the oil.
  6. -Skewer each banana onto barbecue sticks, if desired, and let them cool slightly.
